A local firm has invested almost £600,000 in its Brierley Hill base in response to surging order books.
Dudley South Mike Wood MP visited Biogas Products, who manufacture specialist anaerobic digestion products for water, farming and manufacturing industries to see the new equipment.
The firm which was incorporated in 2008 and is based on the Cookley Wharf Industrial Estate has invested in the new high-tech machinery – including a state of the art laser cutter, a new heavy press and a machine that extracts industrial nitrogen from the air instead of having to have gas canisters delivered each week - to enable the firm to keep up with demand for their products, including from growing markets in Sweden, Hong Kong and even as far as Australia.
Founding partners Martin Newey and Tony Smith gave Mr Wood a tour of their operations and showed the capabilities of the new equipment.
After visiting the business, Mike Wood said:
“It’s fantastic to see another local Black Country firm investing in technology to improve the efficiency and output of their operations, and that demand for their products all over the world is going strong – in Australia, Hong Kong and Sweden just to name a few.”
“Biogas Products are yet another fantastic example of Black Country manufacturing pulling its weight – making quality products, made in Britain, wanted all over the world and sustaining jobs here in Dudley South.”
Tony Smith, one of the firm’s founding partners, said:
"We were delighted to welcome our local MP, Mike Wood, to our offices and fabrications workshop in Dudley. He was able to see first-hand the work we are doing for our clients in the water, farming and manufacturing industries, to create sustainable energy through the process of anaerobic digestion.
“Renewable energy plays a pivotal role in creating a more sustainable future and I was pleased to hear that he is a strong supporter of the work we are doing. We look forward to working with him to continue to grow our business and create further employment opportunities for people in the West Midlands."
