Top four priority groups offered their first jabs on schedule

We have reached a big milestone in the vaccination programme - with more than 15million people across the UK receiving their first jabs. That's more than a quarter of the UK adult population.

All four of the top four priority groups - covering people aged 70 and above, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable - have been offered an appointment for a vaccine, beating the target that the Prime Minister set at the start of the year. Those groups represent 88% of the deaths from Covid-19.

NHS staff are now vaccinating people aged 65-69 and those who are clinically vulnerable.
