Dudley South’s recently re-elected MP, Mike Wood, has announced the winner of his Christmas card competition as Zac Grosvenor (Year 6) of St Mary’s CE (VC) Primary School.

The MP received over 1000 entries from local schoolchildren in his Dudley South constituency, which was an increase on last year’s total.

Zac’s design, which shows Father Christmas and Rudolf underneath the Black Country Flag, featured on the front of Mike’s Christmas cards that were sent to local community groups, organisations, businesses, Councillors and Mike’s colleagues in Westminster, including the Prime Minister!

Mike also shortlisted six runner-up entries to feature as thumbnail images on the back of his Christmas cards.

Between the General Election result and Christmas, Mike has been visiting as many local schools as possible to congratulate Zac and the runners-up on their achievement and to hand-out prizes that were generously donated by intu Merry Hill, the Black Country Living Museum, Dudley Zoo and Cadbury World. He has also presented certificates to the other children who entered the competition where it was possible.

Mike Wood said, “I received some outstanding entries again this year from our hugely talented local children, which gave me the immensely difficult job of choosing a winner and six runners-up.”

“Zac’s design was fantastic and I loved the local connection of the Black Country Flag.”

“I’m sure local people and organisations in Dudley South will be equally impressed by our young artists and I do hope their designs made their way on Boris Johnson’s mantlepiece this Christmas.”

“Happy New Year to everyone in Dudley South!”
